2019 Oscars of Retail Technology Announced

By Joe Skorupa - 12/05/2018

No matter what you call it, the annual RIS Software LeaderBoard is one of the most influential studies in retail technology. It is a must-read for retailers making plans for future IT investments and by investment advisers looking for future tech acquisitions.

Many people in the industry call the LeaderBoard the Oscars of retail technology, a well-deserved nickname for a ground-breaking report now in its 19th year.

What makes it unique is that it clearly spotlights retail software vendors in head-to-head competition based on customer satisfaction scores, i.e. ratings based on evaluations by end users of the software. The LeaderBoard does not pull its punches nor use funny bubbles or dots or waves or hieroglyphics of any kind that obscure results.

In the LeaderBoard, the rankings are clear, liberated of corporate sponsorship to influence results and free of analyst spin, since the data is collected by an independent third-party research firm and then sent to RIS to publish.

Big Winners for 2019

The LeaderBoard contains 50 top-10 lists and one top-20 list plus many quotes by retailers explaining why they voted for a vendor the way they did.

The top-10 leading software vendors in 2019 based on the full set of LeaderBoard data are as follows:

Mi9

Salesforce

Celerant Technology

Cegid Group

ECRS

PCMS Datafit

Jesta I.S.

MultiDev Technologies

Aptos

SAP

Other software providers that achieved top rankings include: Logile, Logility, Lexmark, NGC Software, Profitect, Reflexis, Relex, RTC Group, UTC Retail and more.

Congratulations are due to all of the aforementioned software providers and all others singled out in the 2019 LeaderBoard, who are all winners in their own right due to appearing in one of the 51 top-10 lists above the 40 other vendors whose scores fall below the cut.
