3 For 3: Target's Systems Go Down for Third time in 3 Months
Target's checkout registers, website and mobile app went offline for a short period yesterday afternoon, which is the third time in three months that shoppers have been affected by technical problems.
The outage was brief and not as disruptive as the incidents earlier this year in June.
“As the result of a payment processing issue, some Target guests were temporarily unable to make purchases at Target stores and at Target.com,” the company said in a statement. “Within an hour, our technology teams identified and began to remedy the issue to limit the impact on our guests.”
Target said the problem was not related to systems security, and apologized to customers.
