5 Companies to Watch in 2015

As retail continues to evolve at a break-neck pace those companies unable to keep up fade from memory, and new players emerge to take their place. Forbes annual look at the America's Most Promising Companies highlights the 100 emerging companies the publication believes will have the greatest impact in 2015 and beyond.

The top 100 is littered with companies that are poised to move the needle, including services providers, vendors and fast-growing retailers. The top 5 companies from the list that should have a direct impact on the retail industry in the years to come are:
  • Instacart. The company provides grocery delivery service in as little as an hour from a host of grocery retailers. The company was founded in 2012, and in just two years' time has grown its revenue to over $100 million and is currently valued at around $2 billion. The service is currently offered in most major U.S. cities. Forbes Most Promising Ranking: 1.
  • AdBoom Group.  AdBoom is an ad-sales firm that specialized in SaaS solutions for e-commerce. The San Diego-based firm increased its revenue 10 fold in its first year in business and raked in over $105 million last year alone, servicing emerging e-commerce players. Forbes Most Promising Ranking: 3.
  • AppLovin. Data. Data. Data. Everywhere you go in retail today the conversation quickly turns to the collection of shopper data and how to best leverage it. AppLovin leverages shopper data to target relevant advertisements to shoppers. The emerging services provider's revenue was $90 million last year and on the rise. Forbes Most Promising Ranking: 8.  
  • PIRCH. The lone retailer on this list sells high-end kitchen, bath and outdoor products. The company is unique in that shoppers can sample and test products onsite before purchasing. Sinks and shower heads for example are fully functional in store, giving shopper a true test drive before purchasing. Forbes Most Promising Ranking: 25.  
  • Shoptiques.  The online marketplace allows customers to shop fashion boutiques around the world. The site allows small business owners to leverage the platform as an online sales hub. Forbes Most Promising Ranking: 85.
