Although labor has served as AutoZone’s largest expense, the retailer for years struggled with inflexible workforce management systems that were capped off by poor integrations.

In “AutoZone's Road to Optimization, How They Improved Labor Scheduling and Reduced Labor Costs,”RIS spoke with Tom Newbern, executive VP of store operations at AutoZone, and Kevin Tapscott, VP of solution consulting Americas at Reflexis Systems, to explore how the retailer saved millions by implementing intelligent workforce management across its 6,000 stores.

The initiative helped the retailer save by using one system for time and attendance and labor scheduling, as well as improve the accuracy of its labor forecast, and — perhaps most importantly — address the new safety in labor challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Presented here is an edited version of the webinar transcript, along with the slides from the event.
