The fulfillment wars continue, with Bed Bath & Beyond bringing same-day delivery to both its stores and Buybuy BABY locations.
As part of its holiday prep — and strategy to meet the needs of today’s new consumer — the retailer will offer same-day delivery to eligible customers for a flat $4.99 fee for orders more than $39. Orders placed directly on the retailer’s website are fulfilled via Shipt, and shoppers can also place orders through the Shipt or Instacart apps and websites.
Existing Shipt customers receive free delivery on all orders over $35 when shopping directly through its platforms.
“We've been delighted with the strong customer response to the introduction of BOPIS and curbside pickup this year, and the addition of same-day delivery provides another simple and cost-effective way to shop with certainty from the comfort of your own home this holiday season,” said Bed Bath and Beyond chief digital officer Rafeh Masood.
The company also announced a new chief strategy and transformation officer. Anu Gupta will take the helm on Oct. 5, joining from retail tech provider JYVE Corporation, where she was COO.
She’ll be tasked with Bed Bath & Beyond’s strategy and transformation program, including developing and implement strategic growth initiatives across the No. 34 retailer.
Prior to JYVE, Gupta served as senior VP, strategy execution and operational excellence at Target, and she’s held leadership roles at The Michaels Companies and Safeway.
She’ll report to John Hartmann, COO and president, Buybuy BABY.
