Belk Uses Analytics to Improve Customer Satisfaction

Belk will soon have new capabilities to improve customer satisfaction across its 303 stores in 16 states by using solutions from Teradata. The department store has selected multiple Teradata Data Warehouse Appliances and the Teradata Retail Logical Data Model to build a new integrated database-driven analytics environment.
"We were ready for a new data warehousing system to meet our requirements for a scalable, enterprise-class analytic environment capable of handling more numerous and more complex queries to explore and utilize growing volumes of valuable data," says Mike Laurenti, CIO of Belk. The new Teradata-based analytic environment will enable increased data visibility and accelerated speed for complex queries for faster, more detailed insight into customer interests. The new appliances will provide an optimal environment for deep data integration and powerful, enterprise-class analytics. The database infrastructure deployment will including consolidating data from existing data marts into an integrated data warehouse, plus a test and development platform.
