Beyond the Patch: Avery Dennison RBIS Hosts Panel on Future of Denim

Last Thursday, Avery Dennison RBIS joined forces with top denim and apparel industry influencers to discuss the future of denim at the company's Los Angeles-based Customer Design and Innovation Center. Chaired by Amy Leverton, former denim director at WGSN and author of acclaimed Denim Dudes, the event brought together expert panelists, including Adriano Goldschmied, founder & creative director of Goldsign; Miles Johnson, creative director at Patagonia; David Hieatt, founder of Hiut Denim; and Marco Lucietti, global marketing director at Isko Denim.

The panel discussion focused on the future of denim, in addition to consumer trends, expert insights, and increased sustainability in the retail industry. The panelists discussed the unique findings from Avery Dennison RBIS' recent consumer and denim insights research, including consumer preferences impacting purchase intent across the denim industry and the influence of the ever-growing athleisure trend.

As athleisure continues to gain traction in the market and consumers become more interested in sustainable apparel, the denim industry has to stay one step ahead of the game to ensure their brands stand. "Denim has a cult following in the fashion world," said Amy White, vice president of global branding solutions, Avery Dennison RBIS. "Its heritage and history will inspire the next generation and help drive longevity. The industry is rapidly changing and with a larger focus on sustainability, we hope these insights will help brands not only better understand their audience, but also help shape their future business model."

"The present always looks like the most important thing, but there is no present without thinking and preparing for the future," said  Goldschmied. "I think that discussing the future during this panel was a great opportunity for education and research for all of us."
