For Companies Sourcing From Central America, Carribean, Maersk Line Upgrades Transport Service

6/16/2010
Maersk Line, a liner shipping company serving customers around the globe, recently announced its upgraded all-water ocean transport South Atlantic Express (SAE) service, offered from Central America and the Carribean to key major U.S. market ports.

The service is designed to offer U.S. based global shippers that are sourcing from Central America and the Carribbean with a more efficient, lower cost, and more environmentally friendly way to ship to and from the U.S.

Product ships from key ports of Newark (NY Metro area), Norfolk, Wilmington and Miami.

In offering the upgraded SAE service, Maersk Line says the expanded U.S. East Coast port coverage lessens the need for expensive inland transportation, and offers faster, all-water transits, as well as a reduction in the carbon footprint of the shipper's supply chain.

Additionally, Maersk Line notes that ocean transportation "emits significantly less CO2 over long distances as compared to trucking."
