Pet retailers are making it easier for consumers to stock up on essentials for their four-legged family members during the pandemic.

PetSmart has teamed with DoorDash to offer same-day delivery for thousands of its products through more than 1,400 store locations. Shoppers can place their orders on PetSmart.com today or through the PetSmart mobile app starting later this week.

The service will be free through Sept. 20.

“We understand that our customers need many different shopping options during this time, so ensuring they can make those purchases however they need is important to us," said Will Smith, PetSmart senior VP and chief marketing officer. "We're pleased to partner with DoorDash, together providing pet parents with an even more accessible shopping experience."

Exceptional Pets, meanwhile, launched buy-online-pickup-in-store for all products carried in its five stores in Arizona. The service enables consumers to order online for same-day curbside delivery with no added fee.

"Customer service has always been our top priority and this new online ordering is fast, easy and convenient.  We encourage everyone to try it," said Jason Brown, Exceptional Pets VP of operation.
