Delivering Value From Data

06/23/2014
Retailers and consumer product manufacturers are gaining a better understanding of how to leverage data to improve their internal business processes and decisions through insight and analytics, but the big story is how to monetize the data.

At the inaugural Retail & Consumer Goods Analytics Summit, Dr. Barbara Wixom, principal research scientist, MIT Sloan School of Management, Center for Information Systems Research will explore how retailers and consumer goods companies are driving bottom-line results thanks to data. The trading partners are increasing revenue through the sale of data and by exposing data in strategic ways to strengthen relationships across the value chain.

Since the mid-90s, Wixom has deeply explored data warehousing, business intelligence, business analytics and big data. Her research ranges from large-scale surveys to in-depth case studies. Wixom works closely with a variety of organizations through her leadership with the Business Intelligence Congress, an annual global forum of business and academic thought leaders who inform universities how they can best prepare the next generation BI/BA/big data workforce to meet market needs.

The inaugural the Retail & Consumer Goods Analytics Summit event will be held September 11-12, 2014 at the W Hotel in San Diego, California. The conference will feature keynotes from retail and consumer goods leaders, peer-to-peer exchanges and relationship building.
