Do You Dare to Be Bold?

By Jamie Grill-Goodman - 08/06/2018

This year's Retail Experience Summit (RES) will be an entirely different type of event with an emphasis on BOLD innovation and influential peer-exchange.

In today’s highly competitive retail landscape only those retailers that provide an engaging and memorable customer experience can thrive. The best customer experiences are created by merging technology, marketing and operations.

That’s why RIS News is bringing all relevant disciplines together in an interactive format for collaboration and and brainstorming on best practices for creating teams, culture, engagement and success.

RES's theme this year, "Dare to be Bold" will explore the retail experience at the lavish Fairmont Grand Del Mar resort and spa in San Diego, CA on October 2-4. Attendees will experience collaborative sessions, inspiring speakers, deep dive research explained, and creative 1:1 networking.

Follow the journey of retailers who carved their own path using technology. Explore the technology you need to use now, and what’s next. Learn how to be an innovator who doesn’t try to predict the future, but creates it. Then bring your new strategy back to grow your organization.

In 2017, 56% of RES attendees were direct IT decision makers and 94% of attendees said they made new useful contacts.

Geek Squad founder and former Best Buy CTO Robert Stephens

The RES event brings our Customer Experience knowledge to life with sessions such as opening keynote Geek Squad founder and former Best Buy CTO Robert Stephens who will explore the power of emerging technologies and how to best implement them into an overall IT strategy during “Dare to Be Bold: Embrace Your Inner Geek.”  In the Innovator’s Workshop, Dale Carnegie consultant David Osborne will provide insight and methods to better manage business improvement, disruption management, leading employees across generations, and human capital management. Later during his Innovator’s Workshop Recommendations Osborne will take the list of challenges and goals that were identified by retailers and mold them into an interactive session that offers clear guidance to overcome hurdles and build the kind of internal momentum that creates breakthrough success.

Other speakers include Kenneth Wu, Milk and Eggs CEO; Sterling Hawkins, CART Co-Founder; Steve Schnur, MGM Resorts International Executive Director Merchandise Planning & Retail Systems; Cari Covent, Vice President Intelligent Automation, Canadian Tire Corporation; and many more.

Opening day will feature the all new Tip of the Spear Tech (details coming soon!).

The eighth annual RIS News’ CIO of the Year Awards will also once again be a highlight of RES and honor retail’s most influential and innovative. A "CIO Award Nominee Panel: Boldly Breaking the Mold," will include Sherri Browning, Director, IT Business Portfolio Planning – Stores & HR, 99 Cents Only Stores; Bob Graham, Vice President Information Technology, BevMo!; and Charles Jarrett, Sr. Vice President & CIO, Cumberland Farms.
