Engage! 2016 to Feature Shark Tank Style Competition
At Engage! 2016 RIS News will host a live competition for retail technology startups offering major prizes including increased exposure and networking opportunities.
The startup competition will be judged by a panel of retail experts consisting of Suzy Monford, CEO, Andronico's Community Markets; Wall Street analyst and founder of wRatings Gary A. Williams; and venture capitalist Douglas Rammel. The competition will take place at ENGAGE!, September 7-9 at The Ritz-Carlton in Fort Lauderdale Florida, in front of more than 100 senior-level retail industry executives.
All retail technology startups at the competition will make 10-minute pitches before the panel of experts as well as retail executives in the audience, who will also vote using digital polling technology. Each candidate will make their case as the best solution to push retail into its next phase of evolution. Candidates will be evaluated based on how significantly their solution can improve a retailer’s business or radically alter the industry.

Startups for the Engage! competition are defined as being in the retail technology business less than three years, a standalone company, revenue less than $5 million per year, less than 50 employees, and having secured no more than two rounds of funding of less than $10 million.
“The winner of the startup competition will not only become the star of the Engage! conference, but they will be featured in stories and promotions by RIS News throughout the coming year,” said editorial director Joe Skorupa. “In addition, the winner will receive a list of other prizes including a unique sponsorship package with a high-profile placement at the next ENGAGE! conference, which will take place in the first quarter of 2017.”
