Family Dollar Sales Jump 12 Percent

Family Dollar reports sales of $1.95 billion for the second quarter of fiscal 2007, a 12.2 percent increase from the same period a year-ago. Same-store sales increased by 0.4 percent. Family Dollar management attributes the increase in comparable store sales to an increase in the average customer transaction amount, which offset a decline in customer traffic, as measured by the number of register transactions.
