Family Express Optimizes Inventory Management

4/1/2011
Family Express will begin to rollout Retalix's Demand-Driven Replenishment solution throughout its stores this year. Using the solution, the chain plans to reduce out-of-stocks, enhance the quality of its center-of-store product and fresh product offerings and optimize its inventory management.

The solution will be integrated with the Indiana-based convenience store chain's existing pricing, merchandising and point-of-sale (POS) software solutions to create a seamless and efficient demand-based replenishment system.

"We conducted a detailed search of industry vendors who could help us better manage our total product inventory while providing a seamless integration with our existing IT systems," says Bill Nolan, vice president of marketing at Family Express. "Retalix's Demand-Driven Replenishment solution offers one of the most robust, feature-rich systems on the market, and the depth of its intuitive analytics made our decision very easy."

Family Express selected the solution, which is designed specifically for food and fast-moving consumer goods retailers, to increase visibility and control over its inventory management — especially for fresh items.

The company consolidates 25 traditional direct store delivery (DSD) weekly deliveries into a single daily delivery to achieve efficient transportation and top freshness for perishables. With the Retalix solution, Family Express plans to cut costs, grow sales and enhance the customer experience.
