FIT Design Entrepreneur Program Seeking Applicants for Mini MBA Course

March 31 is the deadline for emerging designers to apply to become design entrepreneurs. Designers whose businesses are based in one of New York City's five boroughs and have been open for at least one year are eligible to apply to Design Entrepreneurs NYC 2014 (DENYC). This free "mini-MBA" program at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) teaches the skills needed to successfully grow a fashion label. Plus, one business will receive $25,000 and a second will receive $10,000 to implement their business plans..

The program kicks off May 29, followed by three weekend intensives from May 31 through June 15. Between June and September, participants will work with mentors to formalize their business plans, culminating with presentations to a panel of industry leaders.

DENYC, launched by the New York City Economic Development Corporation and FIT in 2011, focuses on fashion business marketing, operations, and financial management, and is supported by a generous contribution from G-III Apparel Group.
