MEX, a trade exhibition company, is readying to host the second edition of Gartex 2017: India's Comprehensive Exhibition on Garment & Textile Machinery, Fabrics, Accessories and Allied Industries. The industry
As per the statistics, in 2012, apparel had a share of 69 percent of the overall market; textiles contributed the remaining 31 percent and the size of India's textile market is expected to expand at a CAGR of 10.1 percent over 2009-2021. The export bloomed from $17.6 billion in FY06 to $33.3 billion in FY12, hence resulting a CAGR of 11.2 percent. Not only readymade garments were the largest contributor to total textile and apparel exports from India in FY12P, but also the segment had a share of 39 percent.

Furthermore, by 2021, Indian textile industry is expected to reach heights by US $23 billion. After agriculture, this industry is the second largest employer, facilitating employment to over 60 million people. The Indian Textile Industry furnishes approximately 5 percent to India's Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and 14 percent to overall Index of Industrial Production (IIP).
