Gucci Selects Demandware for Global Luxury E-Commerce Initiative

Demandware has announced that Gucci Group has selected  the Demandware eCommerce platform to build multiple branded direct-to-consumer ecommerce sites for its brands including Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, Sergio Rossi, Stella McCartney and Yves Saint Laurent in the U.S. and Europe.

In being selected by Gucci Group, Demandware says it was chosen "because of its innovative approach to ecommerce, combining leading ecommerce functionality with the operational benefits of its on-demand model."

"We are delighted to be working with Gucci Group to help them launch this exciting new business initiative. It is further evidence that more and more leading retailers are recognizing the unique benefits of our ecommerce platform and on-demand model," said Jamus Driscoll, vice president of marketing at Demandware.

Through its brands, Gucci Group designs, produces and distributes high-quality personal luxury goods, including ready-to-wear, handbags, luggage, small leather goods, shoes, timepieces, jewelry, ties and scarves. It also licenses eyewear, fragrances, cosmetics and skincare products.

Demandware reports other clients include Bare Escentuals, Barneys New York, Burton Snowboards, Columbia Sportswear, Crocs, Frederick's of Hollywood, Hanover Direct, Jones Apparel Group, Lifetime Brands, Playmobil and Reitmans.
