FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOS ANGELES, CA, September 2, 2008 -- The 5th edition of Helen Joseph-Armstrong's world-renowned pattern making book, Patternmaking for Fashion Design, will include a new instructional DVD, showing digital pattern making techniques using TUKAdesign software by Tukatech.

The companion DVD is designed to teach students how to create basic blocks (front and back bodices, sleeves, and skirts) using TUKAcad software and Helen's expert instruction. Harry Wessels, Tukatech's R&D manger, and Helen have collaborated together to produce an easy to use set of video instructions to help the students learn digital pattern making.

Harry praised Helen's expertise, saying "Helen has been an excellent student while learning TUKAcad, and translating her knowledge to digital pattern making has been a pleasure. I've learned a lot from her!"

"I've taught manual pattern making for over 30 years," said Helen. "I am really impressed with how easy TUKAcad is to learn and how my techniques are translated so well to digital pattern making. Even I am using TUKAcad on my laptop now to make patterns."

Helen Joseph-Armstrong is a Professor of Fashion Design at the Fashion Center of the Los Angeles Trade-Technical College. She has attended UCLA, USC, CSULB, and is a graduate of the Fashion Center at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College where she now teaches. She has been a sportswear designer for 18 years and is also a consultant, lecturer, teacher, and author.
