High-Powered CEO Panel Spotlights Retail's Next Big Idea(s)

1/6/2011
The National Retail Federation is bringing out the big guns for its final Super Session on Wednesday, January 12 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. A panel chaired by Macy's president and CEO Terry Lundgren that includes the CEOs of HSN, Crate & Barrel and invitation-only shopping sites Rue La La and Gilt Groupe will gaze into their crystal balls to reveal the big ideas that will create both challenges and opportunities for retailers in the future.

The session, titled "The Future is Big, The Future is Now!", will use the past as a guide to the future—and after all, the past is all any of us have to go on when forecasting the future. First the panel will celebrate "How Far We've Come" by exploring past paradigm-shifting events in retail innovation. Then it will predict "How Far You'll Go" by drawing on insights from some of the brightest minds in retail.

Panel members include Mindy Grossman, CEO of HSN Inc.; Gordon Segal, co-founder and retired CEO of Crate and Barrel; Kevin Ryan, founder and CEO of Gilt Groupe; Ben Fischman, CEO of Rue La La; Bobbie Lenga, managing director and global consumer sector leader for Russell Reynolds Associates; and Bernie Brennan, former chairman and CEO of Montgomery Ward and a former chairman of NRF, as well as the co-author of "Branded: How Retailers Engage Consumers with Social Media and Mobility."
