Ever wonder what the CEOs of top public apparel companies rake in? This year we've put together an offshoot of Apparel's annual Top 50 Report (a ranking of apparel companies with at least $100 million in annual sales that are publicly traded on the U.S. stock exchange by profit margin) — re-ranking the Top 50 companies in order of their CEO's basic compensation. (In cases where the CEO's salary was not available, we substituted another executive). To the left of the chart you'll see the salary ranking as well as how that compares against the company's ranking on July's Top 50 chart. As you can see, Carol Meyrowitz, CEO of TJX Cos., pulled in the top salary of almost $28.7 million. TJX ranked at No. 15 on the Top 50 chart by profitability, but was the largest on the Top 50 chart in terms of revenue, at $29.1 billion. On the opposite end, Jay Stein drew the lowest salary, at $436,000, with Stein Mart ranking at No. 40 on the Top 50 chart by profitability. At $1.3 billion, Stein Mart's revenues are certainly not the largest, but they are a far cry from the smallest as well ? 16 of Apparel's Top 50 do not even break the $1 billion barrier.
