J.C. Penney Launches New Line for Fashion-Forward Women Consumers

J.C. Penney announced in October the launch of a moderately priced women's apparel line designed by Allen B. Schwartz, a Los Angeles-based designer and creator of the high-end A.B.S. line.

JCPenney has plans to launch the new line, named ALLEN B, in 600 of its 1,083 stores in spring 2009. The collection aims to be trendy with a "California cool" aesthetic.

JCPenney says it is marketing the line to fashion-forward shoppers in their 20s and 30s who are seeking lower prices given the current economic climate. Dresses will range from $70-80, with t-shirts retailing for $30.
