J.Crew’s Newest Sustainability Goals Tackle the Supply Chain
J.Crew has launched new initiatives that further its corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability goals by focusing on products, supply chain and third-party partnerships.
Developed in support of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, the "Re-imagined by J.Crew" goals are positioned as a force for change in the retail landscape through enhanced responsible business practices, product innovation and industry partnerships.
The new goals include:
100% of key fibers sustainably sourced, including 100% of cotton, by 2025
More than 90% of J.Crew cashmere and chino collections produced in Fair Trade Certified facilities by 2025
100% of plastic and paper used for packaging sustainably sourced — including a commitment to eliminate virgin plastic from all packaging — and J.Crew operations to be 100% carbon neutral by 2030
To further its CSR efforts, J.Crew, which operates 152 retail stores, is also partnering with various groups to integrate sustainability plans to reduce its environmental impact, including collaborating with supply chain partners to decrease its greenhouse gas impact throughout its global supply chain.
It’s also committed to setting a science-based target with the SBTi by the end of 2021, and is participating in the CanopyStyle initiative, a collaboration of the fashion industry to help conserve the world's remaining Ancient and Endangered Forests and forward innovative next-generation solutions.

"By activating our employees, partnering with our stakeholders and listening to our customers, we are developing strategies to address the issues that will have the biggest impact on our products, supply chain and the apparel industry."
In line with the company’s mission of sustainability, every dollar Patagonia makes will either be reinvested back into the brand or distributed as dividends toward protecting the environment and planet.
