Kohl's Plans to Open 55 Stores in 2009

3/23/2009
In its fourth quarter earnings call, department store chain Kohl's Corporation said during 2009 it plans to open 55 stores and remodel 51 stores. It opened 75 stores during 2008, compared to 112 stores in 2007. The 2009 plan represents a slight increase over its previous announcement, as some openings were added as a result of the Mervyn's store locations it recently acquired. The company will open its first store in Alaska in 2009, as well as 30 stores in California this year.
