ModCloth Hires New CTO

Digitally-native lifestyle brand ModCloth announced the appointment of Nicolas Genest as chief technology officer (CTO). Genest joins ModCloth with more than 15 years' experience building and leading engineering, product and data organizations across consumer, tech and online retail industries. Genest most recently served as the CTO for the online luxury consignment retailer The RealReal, where he strategically led the development of their innovative mobile, web and data technologies since 2013. Genest will be based in the company's San Francisco headquarters and report directly to ModCloth CEO Matthew A. Kaness.

"Nicolas is an innovator and an accomplished technologist at creating revolutionary platforms that enable and quickly scale new business models. As ModCloth reimagines social commerce - online and offline - in the women's lifestyle retail industry, I'm confident his leadership will be an accelerant to our growth. I'm eager to partner with him," said Kaness.

Genest also served as CTO of the European leader in Paris, and in 2011, launched the company's American joint venture with American Express. Previously, Genest worked at Microsoft on Database and .Net development technologies, and prior to that at Pfizer where he led a team of developers producing critical web-based intranet applications.

ModCloth recently took its digital brand offline with the "ModCloth IRL (In Real Life) Tour," a series of five pop-up shop events taking place across the country this summer. The hybrid showroom and store concept disrupts the traditional retail model and brings ModCloth's online community to life.

ModCloth IRL Tour Schedule:
* May: Austin, Texas, at 249 W. 2nd Street
* June: Washington, D.C., at 1626 Wisconsin Ave NW
* July: Portland, Ore., at Pioneer Place, 700 SW 5th Ave. Suite 2115
* August: Denver/Boulder, Colo., (location to be announced)
* September: Pittsburgh (location to be announced)
