Most Wonderful Time of the Year

The end of the year is always a hectic time for retailers. The make-or-break holiday rush is upon us and retailers are pulling out all the stops to ensure the peak selling season is as profitable as possible.

All of the enhancements and upgrades retailers have made to the customer experience over
the past few months will be center stage, and fingers crossed, performing without a hitch. For many cutting-edge digital solutions, this will be their first time operating at max capacity and their performance needs to be seamless.

As the retail industry is humming along in high gear, RIS News is also operating at full
capacity as we approach the end of the calendar year. In addition to the December issue,
highlighted with our Review & Outlook cover story that asks retail’s leaders what 2018 holds for the industry, we have a couple of other highly anticipated projects publishing this month.

The 17th Annual Software LeaderBoard ranks the industry’s top performing solutions
providers across a host of categories focused on customer satisfaction. Traditionally when
we report on customer satisfaction we are discussing how shoppers interact with retailers.
However, for this exclusive research report we explore how satisfied retailers are with their
solution providers.

Congratulations are in order for all the software providers that made this year’s report, with
a special call out to Celerant Technology, Cegid, Mi9 Retail, ECRS and SAP who claimed the first five spots in the extremely competitive Top 20 list that pits solution providers both big and small against each other. There are numerous charts throughout the report that rank software providers by individual category, but the Top 20 list is the crown jewel of the report, and the top five finishers deserve special recognition.

Also publishing this month is our annual NRF Preview Guide. Believe it or not the National
Retail Federation’s annual Big Show event is less than a month away. As always, the event will draw the who’s who of retail technology to the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City for three days of education, networking and fun.

The NRF docket is filled to the brim with educational sessions and networking events and
attendees often struggle to set their personal agenda. With this in mind, RIS scoured the agenda and pulled out the sessions we felt are most relevant to the trending themes that will power retail throughout 2018. Be sure to give the preview guide a read and hit the show floor with a detailed personal agenda to ensure you get the most out of your time at The Big Show.
