Motorola Completes Acquisition of AirDefense
Motorola announced the completion of its acquisition of AirDefense, a WLAN security provider.
AirDefense offers patented WIPS technology used by retailers and other organizations; Motorola says the acquisition will complement its own expertise in radio frequency (RF) management and planning and diagnostic tools for WLAN networks.
"One of the biggest customer challenges to date toward shifting to an all-wireless enterprise is how to ensure their network is secure," said Kathy Paladino, president of Motorola's Enterprise Mobility business. Retailers that deploy Motorola's wireless solutions will now have the WIPS technology integrated into a common platform that will provide protection for sensitive customer information, she says, noting that the integration will reduce the total cost of ownership.
