New Package Delivery Boxes Protect Online Shoppers from 'Porch Pirates'

Billions of packages are delivered each year in the United States, yet many of them do not make it to the intended recipients.

Across the country, unattended delivered boxes disappear thanks to ‘porch pirates.’ In fact, nearly one-third of Americans have had a package stolen from their doorsteps.

In response to this growing trend, Step2®, the world’s largest producer of resin mailboxes, has pioneered a new product category, Package Delivery Boxes. The durable boxes hide and protect direct-to-door shipments, keeping thieves at bay while also shielding packages from heavy winds, rain and snow.

The latest model in the line, the Deluxe Package Delivery Box, features a hinged lid that’s easy to open and close, and a latch to accommodate a lock for added security. It is compatible with BoxLock, a smart padlock designed to protect shipments. Once the delivery driver uses BoxLock to scan the shipping label, the padlock opens, allowing access to place the shipment in the secure Step2 Deluxe Package Delivery Box.
