New Products from GNX, Great Notions, Paxar Corp. and SourceGO
GlobalNetXchange (GNX) and the WorldWide Retail Exchange (WWRE), two of the largest business-to-business exchanges, are merging and will be called by a new name that was still to be determined as of press time. The exchanges have more than 8,000 retailer and manufacturer members between them. In the apparel space, major U.S. retailers using the exchanges for procurement include Sears and Federated. JCPenney and Target have been WWRE members, but were not mentioned in the merger press release. The combined exchanges report they will: consolidate operations and rationalize their solution portfolio to lower the price and the cost of delivering their solutions to encourage wider adoption across the retail industry; continue to offer sourcing, supply chain collaboration, supplier performance management and private label product development tools; enable retailers to operate on a single service platform for global data synchronization (GSD), based on GS1 standards, interoperable with the Global Registry and compatible for EPC/RFID; and work to drive collaborative standards and create a unified forum for the retail industry worldwide.
