NRF Big Show Rocks All 190,000 Square Feet of the Javits Center

12/13/2013
For the first time ever the NRF's Big Show will take over the entire Jacob Javits Center in New York City. The show runs from January 12 to 15 and is the go-to event for the retail industry.

Those that have attended the show the past few years will remember that the Javits Center has been undergoing a $465 million renovation since 2009. The 110,000-square-foot expansion is now complete and “the busiest convention center in the United States” is ready to be taken over by retailers from around the globe.

The Javits Center is the largest convention center in New York and the Big Show will occupy all 190,000 square feet of floor space. “From the perspective of a full show experience, Retail’s Big Show is (you guessed it) ‘bigger’ this year,” says Eric Olson, vice president, education strategies for the National Retail Federation. “There will be more of everything that you have come to expect from the event. We’ve taken over the full Javits facility, all floors, all rooms, all halls."

Olson oversees all educational programming for the show and he and his team work to ensure that the conference spotlights relevant topics and speakers in an extensive agenda that features breakout programs, keynote presentations and an Expo stage.

On Monday January 13 the Big Show welcomes the kind of speaker only an event of this magnitude can deliver as former President George W. Bush engages in a fireside conversation with Steve Sadove, NRF’s chairman. “They will explore G.W.’s experiences in business, global economic policies and thoughts on retail’s impact in those areas,” says Olson. “He’s a very entertaining conversationalist.”

In addition to the major keynote presentations, the programing team has put together interesting sessions that will be delivered on the Expo stage, which is open to both full-conference and Expo-only attendees, many of which deal with the overarching realm of the customer experience.
