Ortholite Launches ESD Technology
Insole leader develops antistatic insoles that eliminate static charges
Amherst, MA (July 31, 2008) - Responding to an increasing demand for antistatic insole technology, OrthoLite, a leading supplier of open cell foam insoles in the performance and footwear category, launched today OrthoLite ESD (electro-static dissipating). ESD is directed for the work shoe category and for people who handle static sensitive devices - in a warehouse, lab, or other work environments. OrthoLite ESD is the only static dissipating insole to also provide all the key properties of OrthoLite open cell foams, including breathability, moisture transport and a patented anti-microbial formulation to fight fungus, bacteria and odor.
In many facilities, people are one of the prime generators of static electricity. The simple act of walking around or moving equipment can generate static charges that can transfer to the products being transported or moved. Antistatic insoles and footwear are constructed of materials that, when in contact with floor surfaces, will safely discharge any static build-up, protecting against the accumulation of electrostatic charges.
"OrthoLite ESD has pushed the technological boundaries by adapting to a variety of high-tech environments,"said Pamela Gelsomini, OrthoLite president. "OrthoLite ESD foam can be integrated into any style of footwear or other application where electrostatic dissipating cushioning is required."
ESD can also be combined with other OrthoLite products in varying densities, colors and molds to create a "custom-fit"insole and is now available to footwear designers and manufacturers.
