Poppy's and S.P. Apparels Choose Tukatech to Improve Their Product Development Processes

6/3/2008

Tirupur, India -- May 2008 -Two of the largest garment manufacturers in Tirupur have chosen to replace their existing CAD systems with digital pattern making, grading, and marker making solutions from Tukatech.  As part of their plans to increase efficiency, accuracy, and speed to market, Poppy's and S.P. Apparels have installed 38 TUKAcad pattern making, grading, and marker making systems between them, as well as SMARTmark NET-Q, Tukatech's sophisticated marker making software.

"We are very impressed with Tukatech's knowledge, consulting services, and products", said Mr. Sakthivale, Chairman of the Poppy's Group, "These systems have almost instantly paid for themselves."  Poppy's, one of the largest suppliers to major companies like Sara Lee, Next, and C&A, has seen a 27% increase in production efficiency in the cutting room, and saved over 10% on fabric consumption thanks to TUKAcad and their engineers who helped streamline and reengineer Poppy's processes.  "They even connected to our plotters and automated cutters" added Mr. Sakthivale.

S.P. Apparels, another giant in India and a large supplier to companies like George, Tesco, and Disney, also made the switch to Tukatech solutions. "The ease of learning and simplicity of the system has taken our paper pattern makers to digital patternmaking in no time, SMARTmark has reduced our consumption, connected our factories, and saved us a lot of fabric." said Ms. Jeeva, S.P. Apparels' COO.  "We contacted Tukatech after attending an awards ceremony in Hong Kong where Tesco honored Hirdaramani Industries with an award for Innovation Excellence using TUKAcad 3D Solutions, and I'm glad we made the switch to Tukatech." said S.P. Apparels CEO, Mr. P. Sundararajan. In May of 2007 Tesco awarded Vinod Hirdaramani and Ceylon Knit Trends an award for "Innovation Excellence" for introducing 3D e-fit solutions by Tukatech to reduce sample approval time, and Poppy's and S.P. Apparels hope to soon follow suit.

"This is the right time to improve the sample approval process, but to get to 3D technologies requires digital pattern making, unfortunately, most other CAD users still make paper patterns.  The other CAD suppliers have done a very poor job in designing their CAD systems and in training and implementing their technology. It is sad when customers have to make the tough decision to replace their systems to gain productivity" mentioned Ram Sareen, Founder and CEO of Tukatech. "Who can afford to make three to five samples to get an approval? Most of our users report 90% approvals in their first submission and that takes a lot of engineering of process and patterns, we are very fortunate to have a great team specializing in engineering the pre-production process." he added.
