Aria Systems will release its 25-module, database independent Aria 4XP in early 2005. Aria has added support for server-based and SQL level II databases and distributed environments with data replication. With n-tier server architecture, Aria 4XP is scalable, enables fast network communications and can be administered via the Web, Aria reports. Also new from Aria is the Digital Order Form, which enables salespeople to manually write orders on forms stored on a tablet PC, which digitizes the handwritten order data so that it can be transmitted via standard or wireless connections to home office system databases.

Newgistics has established the Newgistics Returns Center, an online portal through which consumers can create and print a SmartLabel for the return of merchandise to a retailer, and track their return package to determine when they will be credited for the merchandise. Roland DGA Corp. has released the HeatWave sublimation system for printing on soft goods ranging from T-shirts and athletic apparel to tote bags, caps, mouse pads and flags. The system includes the VersaCAMM SP-300 (a 30-inch-wide high-speed, roll-fed printer/cutter) for $13,995, sublimation inkjet ink cartridges for $149.95 and a 30-inch by 150-foot roll of transfer paper for $89.95.

SDL Atlas has developed the PillGrade 3-D fabric scanning system for grading fabric swatches for pilling, fuzziness and other surface properties. The system can scan woven, nonwoven, knit, fleece and other fabric samples in any weight, color and pattern, generating results in five seconds. The company also is offering the new QuickCondition fabric sample conditioning cabinet with a self-contained compressed air source. QuickCondition units offer a humidity range of 30 percent to 90 percent.
