Research Explores Apparel Leadership

9/26/2007

A recent study by a Lincoln Memorial University educator sheds light on how different leadership styles can contribute to different organizational outcomes for apparel manufacturing businesses.

In his research, Jack T. McCann, an assistant professor at the Tennessee university's Department of Business (and former apparel manufacturing plant manager), explores the qualities of a "transformational" leadership style vs. a "transactional" leadership approach.

McCann's findings were based, in part, on responses to a leadership questionnaire that asked direct reports of leaders at four U.S. apparel manufacturing companies to share insights about their perception of their leaders and willingness to exert extra effort.
