Walgreens, Home Depot Aid in Hurricane Relief

While many stores are forced to close until Hurricane Katrina blows over, some retailers, such as Walgreens and Home Depot, are able to leverage advanced systems to help customers cope with the disaster.

Walgreens pharmacies are helping residents forced to evacuate their homes and in need of prescription medicine. Because all locations are electronically linked by satellite and through network aggregators such as Proxymed and SureScripts, residents can walk into any Walgreens nationwide, ask the pharmacist to access their prescription records and get their emergency medication needs solved.
