Sainsbury's Masters Green Retailing

Sainsbury's sustainability efforts have reached new heights after the U.K.-based grocer announced it has cut its receipt paper usage by around two-fifths and has saved approximately 502,000 receipt rolls per year by using RealPOS Two-Sided Thermal Receipt Printers from NCR. Sainsbury's also introduced more energy-efficient NCR POS workstations that can be powered down automatically at the end of the day. The grocer also encourages the use of reusable bags and is building a series of environmentally friendly stores and distribution centers. The supermarket also has pledged to reduce its CO2 emissions by 25 percent.
