Staples Income Rises

Staples announces a total company sales increase of eight percent to $4.6 billion compared to the first quarter of 2006. Net income rose 12 percent to $209 million. However, first quarter North American Retail comparable sales remained flat, increasing only 1 percent when compared to the first quarter of 2006.
