Wal-Mart Women Are Most Powerful Execs

Three female Wal-Mart executives have been selected for Fortune's Top 50 Most Powerful Women in Business list in 2006. Linda Dillman, Pat Curran and Claire Watts made the list this year. Curran made the list for the first time. Dillman, the former CIO responsible for the RFID mandate, and Watts are repeat honorees. Approximately 10 percent of the list features women in retail, including executives from TJX, JC Penney and Rite Aid


Stephon Marbury Scores For Steve & Barry's

Steve & Barry's is working with NBA star Stephon Marbury to promote the athlete's low-priced line of merchandise. The line includes the $14.98 basketball shoe that Marbury will be wearing on-court during NBA games this season. The tour is designed "to eliminate the incredible pressure kids and parents feel to spend top dollar on the latest sneakers, clothes and other merchandise that they often cannot afford." Steve & Barry's operates 140 stores in 32 states


Jewel Enrolls 3 Millionth Pay By Touch Customer

A Jewel-Osco store in Chicago recently enrolled the three millionth Pay By Touch customer. To commemorate the milestone, Pay By Touch is depositing $1,000 in the customer's new Pay By Touch digital wallet, which can be accessed with the touch of a finger at more than 200 stores in the Chicago area. Pay By Touch offers integrated biometric authentication, personalized marketing and payment solutions.


Nike Kicks Off Redesigned Site on New Platform

In its first major site redesign since its debut in 1999, Nike's Nike.com has re-launched on the Adobe Flash platform with sharply different site display, search and navigation features. Shoppers can now view more than 30,000 products after filtering them by categories such as color, price, sport category and product technology. Adobe Flash also is providing faster downloads and checkouts than was available under the previous HTML-based site. Endeca Technologies provides site search technology.
