Tesco to Relaunch Loyalty Card Online

11/1/2010
Tesco, the U.K. grocery retailer, will relaunch its 15 million-member Clubcard loyalty program online in 2011, providing members with the ability to check their statements on the Web for the first time. In addition to providing members with greater convenience, the move will cut Tesco's direct mail costs.

According to published reports, the retailer is still finalizing how the loyalty program will work across channels. "We are still in the planning stage, so details of how it will look and feel for customers are being ironed out," said Alison Wright, senior marketing manager for Clubcard.

The Tesco Clubcard was relaunched last year in a move that added one million new members to the program. Tesco recently announced changes in the value of points awarded for deals with its reward partners. Beginning December 6, vouchers currently worth four times their face value will be reduced to three times their face value.
