Top Grocers Recognized by RIS Supermarket Leadership Awards

At the recent Supermarket Executive Summit, hosted by RIS and taking place in Houston from June 16-18, six grocers were recognized for an exceptional combination of business and technology achievement. The fourth annual RIS Supermarket Leadership awards were presented in the following categories: Shopper Experience, Merchandising Excellence, Supply Chain Excellence and Outstanding Achievement.

The six award winners were chosen by the editors of RIS News and the RIS Editorial Advisory Board from more than 40 nominations submitted by retailers, industry experts and technology IT providers.

The winners of the 2008 RIS Supermarket Leadership Awards are:

Shopper Experience: E.W. James, accepted by is Ken Pink, Chief Operating Officer

Shopper Experience: Brookshire Grocery Company, accepted by Gary Butler, Senior Vice President and CIO

Merchandising Excellence: BJ's Wholesale Club, accepted by John Polizzi, Senior Vice President and CIO

Supply Chain Excellence: Hannaford Bros., accepted by Gerry Greenleaf, Vice President, Distribution & Transportation

Outstanding Achievement:
Food Lion LLC, accepted by Mike Haaf, Senior Vice President, Sales, Marketing & Business Strategy.

Outstanding Achievement: Price Chopper, accepted by Mark Chandler, Vice President of Supply Chain Integration
