Toray Offers Recycled Nylon

4/14/2007

Partnering with apparel company Patagonia, Toray has introduced what it says is the first recycled nylon, made from off-spec nylon yarns -- the waste left over from first-run nylon production processes.

The new product, called Recyclon, will hit the market in the fall with Patagonia's Workender pant, and in spring 2008 with its Wavefarer board short.

In other news, Toray is first to market with a "green" solvent-free waterproof breathable laminate, according to Leigh Goldberg, public relations associate. Called entrant-e, the laminate uses a proprietary manufacturing process that eliminates 98 percent of the solvent in the product.
