UsTrendy Lends Helping Hand to Emerging Designers

A new fashion company, UsTrendy, is facilitating a revolutionary process through its website, to help democratize a sometimes top-down fashion industry. On the site, 20,000 aspiring fashion designers have uploaded their designs for other users to view and buy. Users vote for their favorites, and the top-rated clothing is produced. In this way, the customers decide what is produced each season.

"Growing up seeing many of the struggles that friends of mine – aspiring fashion designers – went through, coupled with the lack of viable outlets for fashion enthusiasts prompted me to create UsTrendy," said UsTrendy founder Sam Sisakhti.

UsTrendy seeks to enhance the independent fashion scene and will be hosting fashion shows and events locally across various cities with college ambassadors. The site will give local fashion design students and fashion designers a platform from which to be discovered, while allowing fashion enthusiasts to be heard. In addition, UsTrendy will provide local boutiques a new outlet to discover trends and acquire recognition.

UsTrendy is currently taking submissions for its Spring 2015 Design competition. The winning designer will score a $3,000 grand prize, including production and exclusive promotion and sale of their clothing line on UsTrendy.
