Creating a Persuasive Retailing Framework
In the age of personalized, customer-centric retailing it is more imperative than ever to build long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with shoppers. The fight for consumer wallet share is becoming increasingly complicated as new touch points and shopping experiences continue to be added and new digital-first competitors emerge.
At the 2016 Retail Executive Summit, Julie Averill, CIO, REI will discuss how the retailer is creating a framework for success and why technology is only part of the equation. The opening keynote, "Persuasive Retailing: Creating a New Framework for Success," will explore how the retail co-op is engaging, influencing and personalizing the shopping experience for shoppers.
Averill is a 25-year technology veteran and currently serves as the CIO of REI, leading investments in technology for the 145-store co-op, including business intelligence, strategic merchandising, retail technology, digital experiences and IT infrastructure.
Prior to REI, Averill served as Nordstrom’s vice president of technology, leading many of the company’s technology innovations over the last decade. She was also an adjunct professor in Seattle University’s Masters of Software Engineering program, held various consulting roles, and previously worked at Weyerhaeuser and Ernst & Young.
The Retail Executive Summit will be held June 12-24 at the Montage Resort in Laguna, California. The conference will feature keynotes from retail leaders, peer-to-peer exchanges, a golf outing, the annual CIO of the Year Awards, networking opportunities and relationship building.
