The pet care retailer is expanding its presence in Latin America with the implementation of a new omnichannel commerce solution across over 118 stores in Mexico and Chile.

Petco has partnered with Teamwork Commerce to roll out the new cloud-based solution, which combines various key functionalities such as point-of-sale (POS) systems, loyalty programs, and inventory control mechanisms with Petco’s CRM system and online sales platform.

Other new capabilities include paperless receipt options and a streamlined checkout process that allows customers to scan a QR code to pay for multiple services at once.

Guillermo Prieto Cortes, CIO of Petco Mexico, said the integration has allowed the company to reinforce and build out its loyalty program, Club Petco. “[W]e have been able to implement real-time targeted experiences to pamper our customers both in physical stores and on the e-commerce platform,” Prieto Cortes added.

Petco Pounces on Growth Opportunities

Over in the United States, Petco recently streamlined its two loyalty services under a single banner, bringing over 24 million subscribers under a two-tier offering called Vital Care. Those who were members of Petco’s Pals Rewards program were automatically transitioned to Vital Care Core while existing Vital Care participants became Vital Care Premier members. The two tiers — Vital Care Core (free) and Vital Care Premier (paid) — allowed members to access resources and benefits across Petco’s 1,500 pet care centers, petco.com, and the Petco app.

In March, the company also invested in a new customer experience system aimed at customizing key marketing touchpoints across the shopping journey.

The company also hit the headlines recently with its two-story, 25,000-sq-ft flagship pet care center in Union Square, New York City.  The new location inside the landmark Tammany Hall building features a grooming salon, full-service veterinary hospital, JustFoodForDogs kitchen, curated merchandise assortment, and more.
