Walgreens Finds Next CIO
Walgreens has promoted Steve Turner to VP and CIO, effective April 1. Over the next month, Turner will have the opportunity to work closely with Abhi Dhar, Walgreens current CIO, to transition responsibilities. Dhar is leaving the drugstore retailer to launch and act as CEO of an online retailer marketing services company and is currently pursuing investors to help grow his vision into reality.
"Since joining Walgreens in 2009, Turner's experience and his deep knowledge of our systems position him well to move into this new role," a spokesmand for Walgreens told RIS News.
Turner currently serves as Walgreens vice president, service delivery & infrastructure, and has also held Walgreens leadership roles in e-commerce, data analytics, digital, mobile and infrastructure operations. Prior to Walgreens, Steve held various operations and technology leadership roles at Orbitz and Intuit. He also had engineering roles as a contractor for the Department of Defense.
Turner has a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Chapman University and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He also served in the U.S. Navy as a cryptologic technician.
